About Me (Who I Am and Why I Started This Blog)

Hello, and welcome to my tiny space on the World Wide Web. My name is Jill N. Noble-Shearer. I’m a published author and a freelance editor, and I’ve worked in the publishing business (primarily e-publishing) since 2002. I also have a passion for crocheting and making something old look new again, so I’ve decided to combine my top loves into one blog site. They all involve creativity and creative expression, after all. To make things easier, I’ve included tabs across the top, so visitors can click to visit their area of interest.

A few people have told me I’m crazy to start a blog because I already have so many things going on in my life, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. One of my greatest passions is assisting other authors—by helping them learn writer’s craft, by editing their manuscripts, and by supporting them in any way I can while they grow their careers and build their author brands. As most of us know, writing is a solitary endeavor. While we might create friendships with other authors—online and off—we still spend a lot of time alone with our keyboard. Some authors face questions about how they can improve the quality of their writing, but they may not have an editor-friend they can go to for answers. By creating this blog, I hope to grow my network of author friends and clientele, answer questions, do product reviews, and provide a platform where publishers and authors and aspiring authors can disseminate interesting and helpful information.

If you are a publisher or acquiring editor and you’re interested in participating in an interview, please contact me. Published authors may contact me regarding guest-blog posts. Aspiring authors who have questions or ideas regarding topics for future blog posts may contact me, as well. If you are actively seeking an editor, I’ll be happy to provide you with a free, two-thousand-word sample edit of your current manuscript. *Please read more under the SERVICES tab before contacting me in this regard.

In addition to my writing-related posts, you’ll find a link at the top to my “crafty” endeavors. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a little girl, and in the last couple years, I rediscovered my love for this fiber art. I enjoy adding elements such as beads, old or unique pieces of jewelry, and creating amazingly beautiful (and useful!) pieces. I hope to grow this area of my blog with crochet-a-longs, custom patterns, and will promote the work of other amazingly talented crochet artists. I will also include posts on refurbishing or repurposing old items to make them new, fun, and useful again. There are a lot of other bloggers out there who have been doing this a lot longer than I have, but I hope you will join me on my journey toward growing this tiny area of the WWW into a fun, interesting, and educational place for all people who love to create.

Jill
